2 Days Kibale Chimpanzee Tracking Safari is a short Uganda primate safari tour that travelers can book after encountering them. This 2 Days Kibale Chimpanzee Tracking Safari takes you to Kibale National Park, which hosts well over 5,000 chimpanzees in the forest. Chimpanzee tracking is an adventurous activity that sees travelers hiking through the rainforest in search of the habituated chimpanzees in their natural habitat.
Detailed itinerary 2 Days Kibale Chimpanzee Tracking Safari
Day 1: Pick up and transfer to Kibale forest national park, Bigodi Swamp Walk
Depending on your location in Kampala or Entebbe, you will be welcomed by our Uganda safari driver guide, who will brief you about the safari. Thereafter, start the journey to Kibale national park. The journey takes about 5 to 6 hours’ drive and on the way you will enjoy spectacular views of the local people, farmlands, traditional homesteads, the Rwenzori Mountains, and tea plantations, among others. You will have an en-route lunch in Fort Portal and continue the journey to Kibale National Park.
Embark on an interesting nature walk in Bigodi swamp where you will be able to view different wildlife, birds, mammals, and plant and tree species, among others. After the swamp walk, you will proceed to check into the lodge for dinner and an overnight stay at Chimpanzee Forest Lodge.
Meal Plan: Lunch and Dinner
Day 2: Chimpanzee trekking in Kibale national park, Transfer back.
After an early breakfast on the 2nd day of the 2 Days Kibale Chimpanzee Tracking Safari, you will meet up with your driver guide to transfer to Kanyachu Visitors Centre for the chimpanzee trekking briefing. After the chimpanzee tracking briefing, you will start trekking in the forest in search of the chimpanzees, which takes about 30 minutes to 4 hours depending on their location because they like to move from one place to another in search of food.
Once the chimpanzees are located, you will spend one hour with them in their natural habitat, which gives you an opportunity to learn more about their lifestyle and behaviors and watch them feed, play, hunt, and fight, and take photos and record videos with a flashless camera. After the one-hour encounter with the chimpanzees, you will trek back to the park headquarters, where you will meet up with your driver-guide and return to the lodge for lunch.
Thereafter, proceed to transfer back to Kampala/Entebbe with your driver guide, who will drop you off at Entebbe international airport for your departure flight or drop you off at any place of choice. This ends your 2 Days Uganda Safari.
