Serengeti means what  ( what does Serengeti mean) Serengeti is a local Maasai word, which the Maasai people used to describe endless plains of Serengeti. Locally it was pronounced as “Siringet” which was challenging the Europeans to pronounce hence they changed it to Serengeti with the meaning remaining the same the endless plains.

Serengeti conservation area was once a wide area, which covered the Current Ngorongoro conservation area, Lake Manyara national park and Tarangire national park. The Maasai warriors who used to hunt around the area, keep their cattle in the park not until the park was officially gazetted and the locals were relocated occupied the area.

Most of the locals were taken to Ngorongoro conservation area where they are leaving up to date, the other locals split to different areas hence cutting off Tarangire and Lake Manyara national park from the park that reduced its size.

Serengeti national park is found in Tanzania located on the Northern part of the Tourism city of Arusha. It takes 7 hours’ drive from Arusha through a good tarmac road passing through the views of Great Rift Valley, Lake Manyara, Karatu and Ngorongoro conservation area.  The park covers an area of 18,600 square Miles that is an equivalent of    30,000 square kilometers.

The park is recognized by the famous live animal activity that takes place annually between Masai Mara national reserve and the  park. The wildebeest is one of the 7 wonders of Africa and one of the 10 wonders of the world and this makes the more unique from other parks of not only in Tanzania but Africa as a continent.

The Park is a home of wildebeest and many other animals like Zebras, topi, antelopes, kobs, oribi, buffalos, Elephants, Leopards, Cheetahs among others not forgetting that the is the only park in Africa which has the highest concentration of lions.
