Rivers in Serengeti National Park
Rivers in Serengeti National Park are among the features which tourists can see during their visits to this national park which is located in the northern part of Tanzania for Tanzania Safaris.

Grumeti river
Grumeti river is located in the western part of Serengeti national park and it is a major crossing point during the great wildebeest migration. During this migration, thousands of wildebeests can be seen crossing the crocodile-infested river as they struggle to make it to the other side of the river.
This river is crossed by wildebeest during the months of late May to mid-July. The area around the Grumeti river is characterized by acacia trees, woodlands, open plains as well as hills. Predators such as lions, leopards, cheetahs, hyenas can also be seen around the river area as they wait to feast on the wildebeest.

Seronera river
Seronera river is found in the central part of Serengeti national park which is popular among the tourists who visit this destination due to its amazing wildlife viewing experiences since a variety of wildlife species can be seen in Seronera river valley.
The seronera river area is characterized by riverine areas, swamps, acacia as well as open savannah plains where wildlife species can be seen roaming and grazing. A high concentration of predators such as lions and leopards can be seen around this area.

Mbalageti river
The word Mbalageti refers to seasonal river and it is located in the western part of Serengeti national park. The valley where this river is found acts as a natural corridor for wildebeests as they move northwards during their migration.
Mbalageti river runs into Lake Victoria and it forms a very important source of water for the various wildlife species in Serengeti national park especially during the dry season. Some of the wildlife species which can be seen around this river include topi, roan antelopes, patas monkeys, elephants, lions, cheetahs, giraffes among others.
The scenery around the Mbalageti river is characterized by riverine areas, open woodlands and open plains which act as habitat for the wildlife species in the national park.
Wildlife viewing around this river is at its best during the months of May and June and these wildlife species which can be seen include wildebeest, zebras, lions, cheetahs, buffalos, elands, giraffes, hyenas among others.
Mbalageti river serves Lake Magadi which supports a large number of aquatic bird species such as the flamingos which can be seen along its shores.
Mbalageti river lodge is among the accommodations which are located overlooking the Mbalageti river corridor in the western part of Serengeti national park.
Other rivers in Serengeti national park include Mara River, Naironya river and Nanyuki river which are all tributaries to Lake Victoria which is among the largest fresh water lakes in Africa.
