MDONYA OLD RIVER CAMP – RUAHA NATIONAL PARK

Mdonya old river camp is considered to be a budget accommodation found in lush woodland in the heart and North West of the game –rich Ruaha national park in southern Tanzania. The camp is located close to Mdonya waterfalls and stretching along the old Mdonya river bed. The camp is set 75km away from Iringa town and Ruaha is 4 hour’s drive from Iringa city. The best way to travel to Ruaha national park from ARUSHA CITY is a flight that takes 5-6 hours to the close Msembe airstrip then few minutes to be transferred to the lodge.  It’s very far by road taking about 941 km. The camp is convenient and affordable to solo travellers, tourists who want to explore Ruaha national park with beautiful views of the Mdonya River and surrounding areas.

Mdonya Old River Camp consists of 12 spacious and comfortable tents overlooking the vast expanse landscape in African Traditional style with natural materials of local woods with high levels of comfort.  Tents   are well elevated   decorated  with timber  and furnished with tranquility and en suite private facilities of flushing toilet ,  solar heated water for  shower, mosquito nets , wooden chairs and tables , free bottled water in the rooms , free toiletries,  hand wash basin  to mention but few .  Tents have large verandas, with   sitting areas that gives a stunning view of the Africa’s nature landscape and surrounding areas.   Tents are well equipped with comfortable beds containing queen sized beds and perfect to suit your needs.  There is a fire place pit with comfortable seats where guests relax especially after a Tanzania safari as they share stories ,it  also provides warmth during chill weather .Chalets  are in different sizes  that suites solo travellers, family and groups  with singles bed  with individuals, doubles beds for couples / twins,  and family rooming options  ranging from  150$ per night and above. The room rate keeps changing as they go high during peak season than in low season.

Mdonya Old River camp offers more services and facilities which include;

 A dining canvas with the view of the wilderness serving different cuisines both international and African- inspired meals that meets guests choice. Meals offered includes buffet  breakfast, picnic lunch and dinner in the main building served by well trained, friendly and welcoming staff, you can have meals in any place of your choice either terraces overlooking the river or in the dining areas. Bush breakfast is also offered while enjoying morning sunrises and bush dinners while overlooking the stars in the sky.

Ruaha national park is  the second largest national park in Tanzania after Nyerere national park  found in the south of the central  mid- point of Tanzania  and west of Iringa Town . The park was established in 1964 and  It covers the total area of 20,226 square kilometers (7,809 ) square miles  The Park is  most visited and has  different categories of accommodations that include  Budget, Mid- range/ moderate  and Luxury/expensive accommodations that are convenient and affordable to  any travellers, tourists  visiting the park.
