KIGELIA CAMP – RUAHA NATIONAL PARK

Kigelia Camp is a mid -range accommodations found on the banks of Ifuguru sand River in the forest of Kigelia Africana (sausage trees) in the northern area of Ruaha National Park Tanzania. The camp is close to the confluence of Mwagusi River and the Greater Ruaha River in the Perfect base for Game Viewing with in Ruaha National Park for tourists ,Travellers and holiday makers. The best way to travel to Ruaha national park from ARUSHA CITY is a flight that takes 5-6 hours to the close Msembe airstrip then 45 minutes to be transferred to the lodge.  It’s very far by road taking about 941 km.

Kigelia camp consists of 6 spacious and comfortable self – contained tents overlooking the vast expanse landscape and River reflecting African Traditional style with natural materials and high levels of comfort.  Camp  are well elevated with raised platform ,  decorated  with timber  and furnished with tranquility and en suite private facilities of flushing toilet , hot and cold showers heated on fire, mosquito nets , wooden chairs and tables , free bottled water in the rooms  , free toiletries, hand wash basin  to mention but few .  Camp have large verandas out of the front and  sitting areas s that give a stunning view of the wilderness and surrounding areas.   Camps are well equipped with comfortable beds containing queen and king sized beds and perfect to suit your needs.  There is a fire place pit with comfortable seats where guests relax especially after a safari as they share stories ,it  also provides warmth during chill weather .Camps  are in different sizes  that suites solo travellers, designed for family and groups  with singles bed  with individuals, doubles beds for couples / twins  ranging from  200$ per night and above. The room rate keeps changing as they go high during peak season than in low season.

Kigelia camp  offers more services and facilities which include;

 A restaurant with the view of the park serving different cuisines both international and African- inspired meals that meets guests choice. Meals offered include Continental breakfast, picnic lunch and dinner in the main building served by well trained, friendly and welcoming staff, you can have meals in any place of your choice either veranda overlooking the river or in the dining areas. Bush breakfast is also offered while enjoying morning sunrises and bush dinners while overlooking the stars in the sky.

A-well stocked bar with variety of refreshment both alcoholic and nonalcoholic   overlooking the spectacular view of the park and surrounding area.

Ruaha national park is  the second largest national park in Tanzania after Nyerere national park  found in the south of the central  mid- point of Tanzania  and west of Iringa Town . The park was established in 1964 and  It covers the total area of 20,226 square kilometers (7,809 ) square miles  The Park is  most visited and has  different categories of accommodations that include  Budget, Mid- range/ moderate  and Luxury/expensive accommodations that are convenient and affordable to  any travellers, tourists  visiting the park.

  Ruaha national park has a variety of wildlife that includes; large herds of elephants, 10 percent of lions, Zebras , Buffaloes , cheetahs , Giraffes , antelopes , hyenas, Hippos  and many more  and over 570 species of birds  that includes ; endemic species, migratory species with  ostriches, starling , weaver birds, Kingfishers, hornbills etc.  There are more activities to do while in the park and at the lodge  which include; , game drive in the park which enables  you to spot  wide range  and different animals in the park ,   Guide nature walks in the park,  Hot air balloon rides that gives good view of the Savannah  plains at 450$ per person , hand craft safaris, Camping ,Flying safaris, walking night safaris, cultural visits in the  local villages, Bird watching/Birding since the park has more species bird ,the watchers can’t be disappointed to mention but a few
